Dr. Eleanor is an expert at helping couples navigate toward empowered relationships that fulfill their expectations. Dr. Eleanor has been working with couples since she began her practice in 1974. She was trained as a sex therapist by Masters and Johnson.
In 1976, Dr. Eleanor wrote a book, Marriage in Trouble: A time of decision, to help couples determine if their relationship could be saved and to help them with that decision, one of the most difficult for many people. Break-ups are traumatic for the participants and Dr. Eleanor understands this completely.
Thought her practice, Dr. Eleanor has helped thousands of couples find the love they crave in their life as well as helping them through the collaborative divorce process serving as a Collaborative Mental Health Coach during the divorce process.
Dr. Eleanor and her husband, Dr. Marvin Portner, have been together since the day they met on August 14, 1978 in India. They had both been married before; thus, Dr. Eleanor understands first hand the pain of a problematic relationship and divorce, and the joy of being with her soul mate.
